The Chaplins trace their American history back to the 1670s and Chaplins have and still reside in Neeces. Ms. Chaplin penned two books of historical significance to the area: Facts and Legends of Orangeburg County, a history of Orangeburg County and The Chaplins and allied families. The Neeses Farm Museum, which houses historic farming memorabilia, is among the many projects Ms. Chaplin was involved in and realized in her lifetime.
