Executive Director

Janice Baskin


Janice is the fulltime executive director of the Orangeburg County Fine Arts Center (OCFAC). She is a graduate of East Carolina University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Science Education. 

At the start of her career as an educator, Janice taught preschool at St. Andrews Kindergarten. From 2006 to 2018, Janice was a high school teacher at Calhoun Academy and Northside Christian Academy. Here she taught science in the classrooms and in labs.

In 2018, Janice joined Healing Species, a dog rescue sanctuary in Orangeburg, and again used her skills as an instructor. Here she taught and coordinated daily maintenance, managed programs with schools and wrote and secured grants for funding. 

Janice is a member of the Calhoun Players and has had parts in several plays.

Attending Four Holes Baptist Church, Janice, for several years, served as the children’s choir director, which included directing children’s musicals for Christmas and Easter. She also taught Sunday School for children and served as the children’s Sunday School director. Janice also taught youth at the church and is part of the Women’s Ministry team.

Janice is interested in the arts because of the unity it brings to the community as well as how it increases mental health for all participants.  She enjoys reading, singing, traveling and her relationships with her family.
